In our Martech Insider Newsletter, we highlight marketing technologies that deserve special attention each month.
For May 2020, we have chosen to spotlight two emerging companies, Monibrand and TwicPics. The latter offers a SaaS solution designed to help e-commerce merchants manage image display on their websites and address associated challenges. Marc-Henri Spiess, Co-Founder of TwicPics, has kindly agreed to answer our questions.
Hello Marc-Henri,
Could you introduce TwicPics and its positioning in a few words?
TwicPics enhances engagement and performance for websites and e-commerce by improving image rendering, speeding up page display, and reducing costs. TwicPics distributes over 2 billion web images per month for clients such as L’Oréal, Camaieu, Rakuten, and Celine/LVMH, among others.
What problems do you solve?
We address what Google has emphasized for the past two years: one of the biggest obstacles for websites and e-commerce is image performance, particularly on mobile. We tackle the following issues:
- Performance and speed of page display
- Image and short video weight
- Slowness amplified on mobile
- Slowness on 3G networks
- Visual quality of images, resolution, and compression
- Complexity of integrating images in responsive templating
- CDN costs
- CO2 consumption
What are the main features of your solution?
We offer a real-time SaaS solution for:
- Sizing
- Cropping with auto-focus
- Compression
- Format conversion to WebP
- Additional options like caching, CDN, lazy-loading, canonical links, etc.
What is your “Killer Feature”?
Our JavaScript (JS) analyzes the user/device/network context to deliver the perfect image automatically. TwicPics generates and delivers up to 40 different variants.
Can you tell us about your API policy?
We provide a URL API for integrating TwicPics by prefixing an image for custom display on the homepage. The API is automatically called with JS for catalogs and listings.
What are your onboarding and customer support processes?
Our onboarding is online and automated, with a manual setup option for large clients. Support is available online, with phone support as an option.
How do you see the evolution of your market?
With the growth of e-commerce, the demand for performance and visual quality is increasing, aiming to deliver a personalized and "high-fashion" user experience worldwide.
Thank you, Marc-Henri, for your time and the precision of your answers.
